Question/concern on Honeymoon travel In May 2025
Hi everyone! My fiancée and I are getting married in May 2025! We are from Atlanta, Georgia and are getting married in France. Were discussing a few honeymoon options but wanted to run a question by everyone that would help us evaluate our options:
Details first: – seasoned travelers – honeymoon travel would start beginning of June – 2 to 3 weeks time off, depending on the destination we choose – finances are not really a concern – we love to travel everywhere. We are more “active” travelers but do enjoy our rest days (3 days at an all inclusive was just the right amount of time before we needed to do some hiking and sight seeing)
Question: my Fianceé has always wanted to honeymoon in Thailand. We were considering this as our top option, but with the current conflicts going on (and potential threats in throughout asia), we weren’t sure if this would be a good option given the limited flight paths from France to Thailand. Are we being unreasonable in worrying that any continued escalations in Russia and the Middle East would make this a “risky” trip? We would likely continue flying East to get back to the United States after our time in Thailand (likely connection in Japan for a day or two). I do know their are some threats going on over in Asia too but no active conflicts at the moment.
If we don’t do Thailand, we are currently torn between Italy, Switzerland or a Safari in Kenya. I am working on Italian citizenship and my work may relocate me to Italy, so we may take this off the list as we could potentially be living there in the next year or two. Our thoughts on Thailand and safari is that we’re already “half way there” so it would allow us more time at the destination than if we did a similar length trip directly from the U.S.
We’re also open to any suggestions anyone has that has also done a similar mixed relax/active honeymoon or trip!
