Anywhere with solid weather and smaller crowds in August?!

I am planning a honeymoon for early August, with a max budget of 10k including flights from Atlanta. Looking to do a 3-5 days at a very nice and relaxing resort, and then 3-5 more days in less expensive accommodations, depending on budget. All inclusive is not a priority, we just want somewhere to recharge our energy before we head off exploring! Every spot I have found seems to have been shot down by weather or tourists- can anyone correct these statements or provide destination ideas?

  • The caribbean = hurricane season, and not as much to explore off the resorts
  • South of Europe = insane crowds and heat (Mallorca was my #1 choice until I discovered this)
  • Southeast Asia = rainy season, and likely out of budget
  • African Safari = peak season and super expensive for quality experiences

Any ideas on where to go? I have already been to Costa Rica numerous times or that would be my first choice. Wanting a mix of beach (or lake!) time with some adventure. South America seems like a good option, just not sure where!
