Budget friendly destination recommendations

My fiancée and I are brainstorming destination ideas. We want to go somewhere special, but not too expensive as we’re planning to save up for a larger trip to Japan the following year. We’re getting married in March, but don’t mind honeymooning a bit later if the right destination is better for a summer trip. We’ve been exploring National Parks in the western US or a tropical destination, but open to any ideas. We love exploring nature and trying new foods.
