Hawaii for lovers

Hi all!

My spouse and I wanted to have our honeymoon (2 years later…) in Hawaii because it's an easy flight from the PNW (where we reside).

The way we envision it is that we'd like to wake up, eat at Mom and pop places, have poke, go swimming, surfing or hiking and just hanging out in a little village/town where we can walk and recharge.

We are NOT interested in 5 star, overly priced, tourist driven, inclusive resort experiences.

We prefer to immerse as much as we can in the local culture, and experience the authenticity of our surroundings.

Any suggestions of which area we could visit?

If anyone has other suggestions other than Hawaii that are within that 5-6 hr flight from the Portland/SeaTac area, we are more than happy to see them:)
