Hello Travelers! If you’re planning a trip to Sri Lanka this December–January, here’s a simple 7–10 day itinerary.

Day 1–2: Colombo → Kandy

  • Arrive in Colombo and head straight to Kandy.
  • Visit the Temple of the Tooth, take a walk around Kandy Lake, and enjoy a cultural dance show.

Day 3–4: Nuwara Eliya / Ella (Hill Country)

  • Take the train ride from Kandy to Ella (or stop in Nuwara Eliya along the way).
  • Enjoy tea plantations, waterfalls, and hikes like Little Adam’s Peak or Nine Arches Bridge.

Day 5–6: Yala / Udawalawe Safari

  • Head south for a wildlife safari. Yala is famous for leopards, while Udawalawe is known for elephants.
  • Spend the night near the park for an early morning safari.

Day 7–9: South Coast Beaches

  • Relax at the golden beaches of Mirissa, Unawatuna, or Bentota.
  • Go whale watching in Mirissa, snorkel, or simply unwind by the sea.

Day 10: Back to Colombo

  • Return to Colombo for shopping, local food, and your flight out.

Tips:

  • December to January is peak season on the south and west coasts great weather and lively atmosphere.
  • If you like culture, add Sigiriya Rock Fortress or Dambulla Cave Temple between Kandy and the hill country.
