Help us decide: 5 weeks in South Africa or SE Asia?

We’ve been up to our eyeballs in wedding planning and realized we’ve completely neglected the honeymoon, which has snuck up on us! We’ll have a full five weeks to travel: mid-December 2025 to end of Jan 2026. the two strongest contenders right now seem to be South Africa and SE Asia. We’ve both spent lots of time in SE Asia (Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, India) and have always said we’d love to go back to visit some favorites now that we can afford something nicer than hostels as well as seeing somewhere new (have heard great things about Sri Lanka, Phillipines, and Malaysia). Not all of those countries, of course, but with five weeks, figured we could hit 2-3 countries and will get great bang for our buck in USD. But thanks to this sub, I’m seeing some incredible trips to SA—and Tanzania and Madagascar as well. Plus, it’s a region we’ve never been and seems like the USD is quite strong there as well! Any advice, opinions, or tips are very welcome. I’m seeing many folks plan over a year in advance and am starting to get nervous that we waited for too long! Thank you!!
