Hi everyone! I’m trying to brainstorm ideas for our early August 2026 honeymoon and would love some suggestions/advice.
Goals/Constraints:
-we want to go right after our honeymoon for about 10 days/2 weeks
-no official budget but probably not more than $10-$15k for hotels/flight expenses
-we don’t want to waste a long time traveling somewhere, so we aren’t considering places like Japan/New Zealand/Bali etc. We will be flying out of Boston and back to Chicago most likely.
-I have always wanted to go to Italy or Greece, but I’m worried the crowds and heat would be too much in August. We are okay with some crowds but I’ve heard that it can be really crazy in both these places this time of year and I’m thinking saving this trip for some year we can do it in the off-season would be better
-August seems to be the rainy season in a lot of places so also trying to avoid that
-I don’t want to go to Mexico because we have a trip planned there in the winter
-We’re thinking Hawaii might be too far and it’s pretty $$$
-So far our top options are the Azores/Portugal. Our main goal is to be able to relax at a resort for a few days, maybe near a beach, and then explore a city/town with good food and wine. I’m worried the Azores might be too outdoorsy for what we want for this trip. Spain is also an option but again, worried about crowds
If anyone has experience in any of these places in August I would love to hear! (good or bad). Also, if you have any suggestions I haven’t listed, that would be amazing!!
