Honeymoon in Cancun in August?

I’m planning my honeymoon in August and really want to go to Cancun. It feels like a great combination of lounging and close to historical sights.

There is also an all inclusive resort there that’s super vegan friendly, which is another consideration. However, I know it’s going to be crazy hot. Am I insane for even considering it?

Any recommendations for August visits within 9 hours of the US west coast?
