Hey everyone! My fiancée and I are planning our honeymoon in Italy and could really use some advice on our itinerary. And yes… this is less than 3 months away 🙃.
🔴 Trip Details:
• Dates: August 19 (arrive in Rome at 7 AM) – August 31 (depart Rome at 7 AM) • Reason for timing: We both work in education, so we’re locked into traveling during peak season. • Style: We’re not luxury travelers (despite one 5-star booking with points). We’re happy with Airbnbs or mid-range hotels.
🔴 What’s Already Booked:
• Aug 19–22: One-way flight to Olbia + 3 nights at Due Lune Puntaldia near San Teodoro (Sardinia)
🔴 Tentative Itinerary:
• After the 3 nights in northern Sardinia, we’re thinking: – One night near Cagliari (Aug 22) – Fly to Verona @ 9am on Aug 24 – Spend 4–5 days in either Lake Garda and/or. the Dolomites – Seeing both would be awesome, but guy says we may need to choose 1. My friend recommends Merano as a base. – Head south, stopping for a night in Florence – Final night near Fiumicino before flying out early on Aug 31
🔴 A Few Notes:
• My fiancée has been to Sardinia and loves the beach. • I’ve never been to Italy and would love to see the mountains. • We’re a little concerned about August crowds in Sardinia and want some downtime in a quieter, scenic spot (hence the interest in heading north).
🔴 Our Big Question:
Is this itinerary too much? We’d love to see Sardinia and the mountains/lakes. We’re also young and don’t mind moving around a bit, but don’t want to feel rushed or spend half our trip in transit.
Would really appreciate your thoughts or any tweaks you’d suggest!
