Little bit of background knowledge. My husband and I got married late August and decided to take our honeymoon the end of January (2025). We started planning last January. We considered going to Montana and doing a winter type vacation as we’ve never been before. We started looking at lodging and ended up deciding a tropical vacation would be better since we live on the east coast and experience all 4 seasons lol. In April we booked with an all inclusive 4 star resort in Punta Cana. A friend of ours had gone with her sister who works in marketing for the company and said it was a nice place and fairly cheap. We decided to book for 6 nights and put down the deposit. As we are getting closer, I looked up the resort to see recent reviews (within the last month or so). SO many poor reviews regarding stomach bugs, cockroaches, money stolen from backpacks inside rooms, soliciting on the beaches daily, no hot water, etc.
After seeing that I panicked and told my husband we should look into somewhere else. This will be my first time out of the country (aside from cruises) and I already have anxiety. Any suggestions for all inclusives or other ideas? I want us to enjoy ourselves. We had a lot of heavy, terrible stuff happen within our family right before our wedding, and I’m hoping our honeymoon can help make up for the stress and sadness we’ve faced recently and be able to enjoy newlywed life.
