Honeymoon Sri Lanka October

Hi everyone!

My partner and I have planned our honeymoon in October and we’d love some feedback on our itinerary and accommodation choices. We’ll be traveling through the Maldives and Sri Lanka, and while we’re super excited, we want to make sure we’re not trying to do too much and that we’ve made good choices for each location.

Here’s our current plan:

We’ll start with 5 days in the Maldives, then fly to Colombo, Sri Lanka. We don’t plan to stay in Colombo, but instead head straight to Hikkaduwa (or somewhere similar on the coast with a beautiful beachside accommodation) for 2 nights. We saw the crystal sands, but we are really not sure about it

After that, we’re thinking of doing a safari in Udawalawe, combined with a transfer to Ella, where we’ll stay 1 night. We have booked the tea cabins, but can still cancel this

From Ella, we’d like to travel directly to Negombo (or another beautiful beach hotel near Colombo airport) to spend 2 relaxing nights before flying home. We saw the jetwing blue and jetwing beach hotel, but are still not sure on that.

Questions we’d love advice on: 1. Does this itinerary seem realistic and relaxed enough for a honeymoon? 2. Any suggestions for beautiful beach stays near Hikkaduwa or Negombo? 3. Is it worth doing the safari and going to Ella if we only stay one night there? 4. Any other romantic recommendations or hidden gems along this route?
