Indonesia / Thailand or Carribean in late Sept / Oct

Hi all! We’re planning our honeymoon and would love some firsthand recommendations.

We are a married couple from Austria (28M/29F). Vegetarian, into hiking, nature, photography, local food, a bit of luxury and relaxation. Dates: anytime between Sept 21 and Oct 21, for ~9–13 days.
Home base is Graz; can depart GRZ, VIE, MUC, LJU, BTS (in that order). Stopovers 1–3 nights are welcome. Multi-city is nice but not required. Budget €2,500–€3,500 per person incl. flights. We also have ~80k AMEX points we could use for flights if there’s a smart play (even one-way biz).

Destinations we’re eyeing

  • Indonesia (Bali or other islands) (open to Nusa Penida, Lombok, Flores/Komodo, etc.). Bali seems to have the full package (nature, beaches, culture, chill vibes) but might feel touristy. We’re fine avoiding hotspots if there are calmer bases.
    • Looking for: 2-3 base itinerary ideas, hotel/lodge recs (boutique or luxury-light), must-do sights, short hikes, waterfalls, snorkel/boat days, sunset spots, local veggie-friendly eats.
  • Thailand we keep hearing mixed takes on late Sept/early Oct. Some say it’s rainy; others say it’s totally fine with ~30 mins of daily rain.
    • Which areas are least rainy in that window or do you recommend to not go in that time frame at all?
    • Suggestions for 2–3 bases, hotels (boutique/lux-light), and activities that still feel special.
  • Caribbean we know it’s hurricane season, but we’re open to lower-risk areas if you think it’s still worth it in our dates.
    • Which islands make sense outside the main hurricane belt, and any hotel/area recs that balance beach time + light adventure?

Style

  • Prefer authentic/boutique over big all-inclusives.
  • Beach base + easy adventures (short hikes, waterfalls, snorkel/boat days).
  • Vegetarian-friendly food, clean and safe vibe.
  • Drone-friendly is a bonus (where legal and respectful).

If you got any great recommendations we would love to hear them. Many thanks in advance!
