Jamaica: Sandals vs Couples – relatively modern/updated, excursions, good food?

I am stuck! Looking into Jamaica for our honeymoon (Oct 2025, 7 days) and I am unsure between Sandals vs Couples resorts AND locations! My fiance wants nice beach, which makes me lean toward Negril compared to Ocho Rios, but he is open.

We want something somewhat modern or updated, definitely doesn't need to be newly renovated or anything but also not falling apart. We want to do 1-2 excursions so having interesting options is important, but also the more activities included in the AI would be great! And we want relatively good food- not 5 star by any means, but would like to enjoy most of our meals.

Thinking club or mid-level rooms at both resorts, less worried about total cost at this point and just trying to figure out a general direction to go from here. I have never left the country so would LOVE all the thoughts and opinions!
