Hello! We're behind on our honeymoon planning and could use advice to help us make a decision. We're deciding between Europe (Croatia and/or Greece) or Southeast Asia (Bali/Indonesia).
We booked 17 days of vacation time in June already. As decently experienced travelers, we're looking for a mix of everything: relaxation, beaches, nature, culture, adventure, and romance. Here's how we're weighing our options:
Bali/Indonesia
- Neither of us has been to Southeast Asia—everything will be new.
- Offers everything we're looking for, though we need to research the beaches more.
- Relatively less expensive compared to Europe.
- Travel time is double or triple that of Europe (24-32 hrs outbound depending on route), but we can add a stopover somewhere new (like Singapore) on the way there or back.
- May be harder to visit in the future due to distance and travel time, and ability to take enough vacation time to make the travel worth it.
- June seems to very good time to go between the weather and fewer tourists.
Croatia or Greece
- Offers everything on our wishlist.
- While we've been to Europe before, neither of us has visited these countries.
- Shorter travel time means more vacation days. Plus, we can easily hop between cities using EasyJet or create flexible or creative routes.
- Will be relatively more expensive.
- More likely we'll be able to visit again in the future.
- May be more crowded with tourists.
