Hi all! Looking for recommendations on narrowing down our honeymoon location – we are now a bit conflicted between 3 very different trips: Thailand, Singapore/Bali, or South Africa.
We will be going in June 2026, I have been to Cape Town and to Singapore. Budget excluding flights is $10 – 15K. I am going to list some specific pros/cons in hopes of some guidance!
We want great food, incredible hospitality, some activities and romance/relaxation.
• Bali/Singapore - Pros: beautiful beaches, affordable, limited flights mid trip. Cons: have heard mixed things about Bali in regards to how westernized and party-focused it's become, and have also heard people recommend Thailand over Bali. • Thailand - Pros: beautiful beaches and landscape, affordable. Cons: more travel and flights throughout the trip (right now looking at Bangkok, Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Koh Yao Noi), and Bangkok seems extremely hectic and not romantic to me. I've been to Hong Kong and Jakarta and generally did not enjoy my time there, although I recognize Bangkok could be completely different! It's also the beginning of the rainy season. • South Africa - Pros: beautiful landscape, limited flights mid trip, safari, winelands. Cons: less affordable, no classic beach resort experience (although I have heard of people tacking on Mozambique/Mauritius - our travel advisor currently says it's not possible to do that within our budget). My partner is also not thrilled at the idea of an early structured wake up time daily for safari.
