We’re getting married this November and we’re delaying our honeymoon because I’m a teacher and it’s the easiest time for travel.
We’re looking at July or August 2024. So far we’ve considered a few options but I feel like I always run into some drawbacks.
Criteria: Being able to relax is super important to my fiancé. We’ve done a lot of adventure trips and want to chill, but we wouldn’t mind having adventure options available. I would also really like to go somewhere we can eat really great local food. We haven’t talked specific budget but I think we’re okay with the $5-7k range, depending on the destination. Less would be even better. We’re okay with all-inclusives if they’re adults only and meet the other criteria without feeling too busy/touristy.
- Tulum, Mexico fits a lot of our criteria but everyone says July/August sucks because it’s extra hot and humid and the seaweed takes over the beach.
- Greece is a dream but I’m hesitant because the flights are long and wildly expensive from the NYC area.
- Italy would also be amazing but I’m concerned it might be too touristy at that time of year. I’m also a bit overwhelmed by the potential itineraries. I think it would be great to explore, but is it relaxing? Idk. Also have the same concerns as Greece.
- We thought about a Mediterranean cruise initially because we loved our Caribbean cruise, but that swiftly became too overwhelming. They sound too go go go.
- I’ve started looking into St. Lucia, but idk. We’ve both done the Caribbean thing, and I’m kind of inclined to do something a little different for our honeymoon. If someone made a great case for it, I might be convinced, but I just feel like there are so many other options out there. It might be the best location for the season though.
Any suggestions? Thank you!
