Looking for suggestions on honeymoon destinations for 2026!

Looking to start planning our honeymoon for next year (2026). We’re fairly flexible on our travel dates except for mid-sept through early oct. Would appreciate some suggestions on strategies, destinations, things to think about, and tips and tricks!

  • 450k Amex points
  • 100k Cap1 points
  • Flying out from Hawaii (Honolulu)
  • Planning for ~2 weeks
  • We haven't thought about budget. I'm guesstimating ~$5000 MAX total for both of us. This is on top of our credit card points which we are planning to use for flights to fly first class round trip, and maybe partial hotel coverage. Open to other strategies/suggestions!
  • We would love a nice balance of sight seeing, relaxation, and activity. We definitely want to go out and do things/explore–not just stay in a fancy hotel the whole time. However we would also love some options for downtime and relaxation–just not for the whole trip. If I had to break it down, maybe 50% "active" activities, 30% sightseeing, 20% relaxation (not really doing anything, just soaking in the free time).
  • We are avoiding Hawaii, Italy, Japan, and Korea (been there done that, and want to go somewhere new)
  • Though not required, I personally would prefer somewhere that uses English primarily. I fear going to a foreign country and not being able to speak/understand the language would hinder us from fully enjoying our trip/honeymoon.
  • In case it matters, we're both Asian. I bring this up because we've heard stories of some pretty interesting encounters where locals were blatantly rude.

Our current brainstorm list consists of * Ireland/Scotland – We were planning to go right in 2019, then COVID hit * St. Lucia – We came across this while Googling honeymoon destinations and were attracted to the beautiful open-air hotels! However I heard that the Caribbean is really just for relaxation and not too much to do–especially for 2 weeks. Even more so since we're from Hawaii. * New Zealand – My wife is a huge LOTR fan (I also really enjoyed the series) and we also only ever heard great things about the country * Iceland – Haven't looked into this yet, but heard it's a great place to travel to

We're very early in our planning and open to other suggestions as well! Thanks so much for all your insight in advance.
