Maldives for honeymoon or…

Hey everyone,

I’m planning my honeymoon for mid-November 2025 and looking for some advice. My dream is to stay in one of those overwater villas with a lagoon view (like you see in the Maldives/Bora Bora pics). But I’m based in New York, and the long flights are kind of killing me 😅. • Is there any island closer to the U.S. that has authentic lagoon-view overwater villas (not just beachfront rooms)? • If not, I’m leaning towards the Maldives. What should I expect if I go in mid-November in terms of weather, mosquitos, and overall vibe? • How brutal is the jet lag coming back to NY, realistically? • Are there fun activities in Maldives outside of just relaxing — like excursions, water sports, or culture — or is it mostly a “resort-only” type of trip?

I know the flight will be long, but it’s our honeymoon so I’m telling myself yolo. Would love to hear from people who’ve done this trip (or found closer alternatives).
