Mauritius or New Zealand for a week?

Sooo there are two final options me and my future partner have decided so far it's either New Zealand or Mauritius for a week but I'm confused where to go… My partner prefers hike and wildlife (including zoo) soo what would you guys recommend? In a week I feel without a car in New Zealand if we stay in Queenstown it would be good but then if we have to explore wildlife Auckland zoo seems to be a good option but then in a week it seems to be a hassle…. Is it doable? Also the flights to new zealand is more than a day from India…. Pls help..
