October honeymooners where did you go and what was your experience? (plus some general questions hehe)

Hiiii! I'm newly engaged and working on some early plans and have (quite) a few questions about locations, budget planning for those locations, etc.

Some background: my fiancé (29M) & I (29F) are planning on getting married mid October 2026 and going on our honeymoon a couple of days later. We are in the very early stages of planning and have narrowed it down to 4 destinations, which I will get to in a moment, but we are still open as there are so many places we have never been. So far we both have not traveled outside of North America, though I am going to Turkey on a girls trip in September, so this will be our first long distance trip together. We are getting married in Las Vegas and will be flying out from there, we're aiming for a 2-2 1/2 week long trip including travel time.

We have talked about traveling the world since always. We love food, history, architecture, beautiful nature, adventuring, all of it! So the locations we have in mind are for different things. In alphabetical order:

  • French Polynesia – Tahiti, Mo'orea, & Bora Bora
  • Greece – Athens & a few islands like Naxos, Paros, Crete, etc.
  • Iceland – Reykjavik and then renting a car to explore the island
  • Italy – either an Italian alps/northern Italy trip or a central/southern we're not sure.

I wanted to ask others who have honeymooned in mid to late October (or anyone else) a few questions though:

  • Where did you go and what sort of activities did you do?
  • What was the weather like where you went?
  • If you're comfortable, what was your budget & what was included? (I'm trying to get a rough estimate of realistically how much we should be saving)
  • What would you change or tell your past self to consider, if anything?
  • What should I be aware of when it comes to honeymoon planning?
  • Any planning advice you're willing to share!!

If you can't tell, I'm an over thinker and I'm so incredibly overwhelmed just by the amount of choices. I want to solidify the destination so I can go from there. Ultimately, the decision is up to us and what works for us as a couple, but advice helps me clear my brain.

Anyways, thanksssss 🙂
