Our honeymoon to Europe, any suggestions / feedback on our plans

Fiance (29m) and I (31f) are both Australian, booked our honeymoon to Europe mid feb 2026 for approximately a month. Not the most ideal time in terms of weather but we’re just making do with other commitments later in the year.

The main things we wanted to “check off” are: 1. Seeing lots of places – but we don’t like the idea of excessively packing and unpacking every second day 2. Scenery in Switzerland – Lucerne, Interlaken, Lauterbrunnen 3. Fiance is a Carl Yung fan and wants to go to the Carl Yung museum in Zurich 4. Finish in Amsterdam for a few days to relax – potentially try some brownies and stuff before flying back 5. Bonus: while we were planning and looking at rivercruises, I realised I love the idea of seeing fairytale towns!

We fly into Rome and spend 2 nights before boarding an MSC cruise to Messina Italy, Malta, Barcelona Spain, Marseille France, Genoa Italy and back to Rome.

From there we catch a train to Lucerne Switzerland to spend 4 nights. We plan to do day trips to Interlaken + Laurerbrunnen and Zurich.

Then we catch a train to Strasbourg France, potentially stopping over in Basel Switzerland on the way. We spend two nights in Strasbourg and plan to do a day trip to Colmar France in the middle of our stay. On our final day in Strasbourg, we board a CroisiEurope rivercruise to Amsterdam, stopping over in some places in Germany (Mannheim, Nierstein, Rudesheim, Cologne).

We understand we may be of the youngest people on board but as mentioned, we like the idea of seeing lots of places without having to unpack and pack a lot, and the fact that it takes us up to Amsterdam which was on our list. (Also preferably we would’ve been on a Basel to Amsterdam rivercruise but the shorter cruise + being on CroisiEurope fit our budget more)

Finally, we finish with 5 nights in Amsterdam (first 2 nights of which are actually spent on the rivercruise ship) and potentially doing a day trip to Antwerp during the hotel portion of our stay.

We plan to buy a Eurail pass for all train rides we plan to take. Also wanted to note that we’re quite active people, and so we plan to hire bikes in most places where feasible and such. Any other suggestions / feedback on what we’ve planned? Anything we may’ve missed?
