Portugal October honeymoon question(s)

Hello! In the very early stages of planning a Portugal honeymoon in mid-October 2025. My fiancé and I have never been to Europe before so we are super excited! I had a few questions that I’m hoping someone here might be able to help answer 🙂

My main question would be if it’s worth it to make the Azores part of our trip, or just stick to the Algarve region? We are planning for around two weeks, with one week spent in/around Lisbon and one week spent in/around the Azores or Algarve. Given our time frame, the extra travel time and time of year, is it worth it trying to make the Azores part of our trip?

Also, would it be worth it to seek out accommodations with a pool this time of year? We’re from Vermont so we don’t mind chillier weather at all but not sure how the weather will be for swimming in mid-October. There are soooo many great looking options for places to stay that we want to make sure we find something great 🙂

Any other recommendations for things to do on our honeymoon in Portugal would be very welcome! Thank you so much 🙂
