Our honeymoon is booked for the first couple weeks of October. We are traveling from the US to New Zealand for a week and then we’ll spend about a week at the Emaho Sekawa in Savusavu, Fiji.
We’ve been keeping an eye on the weather in Fiji for the last week, and it has consistently said there will be rain and thunderstorms every day we’re there except one. We realize that the forecast could change since we’re still 3 weeks out, but we run the risk of it staying the same and not being able to enjoy the island or resort as much as we would otherwise.
We booked our flights completely with points, so we’re able to cancel and use those to rebook pretty easily. We would likely lose our deposit for the resort in Fiji which is close to $1,500. That’s a little bit easier for us to stomach than the additional $5,000+ we’ll still be spending if we go and it’s storming the whole time.
So, does it make sense for us to reschedule our honeymoon for May 2025 due to the weather forecast?
