Hey all! We are aiming to go on our honeymoon for 2 weeks or so in February, and our home airport is DFW (Dallas). Would love to hear feedback or suggestions on our ideas below.
1- One choice is to go to Thailand. We would take Japan airlines direct from Dallas-Tokyo, and connect to Bangkok. We would use this opportunity to spend a day in Tokyo on the way there and back. Japan is also high on our bucket list so while this wouldn’t check it off, it is a way of getting a taste of that.
We would spend 3 days in Bangkok, 3 in Chiang Mai, and then 5 days on an island. Leaning towards Koh Samui/Phangan/Tao due to the convenience of Samui airport. Also, it’s apparently the best season for good weather there in February. Another reason it made the top of the list. We’ve never been to Thailand before so any and all recommendations welcome.
2- the other option is to go to Hawaii. We would fly direct from Dallas-Maui and fly direct home from Honolulu-Dallas. Thinking about doing 3 islands in our 15-16 day trip. I’m for sure interested in Maui and Oahu, possibly Big Island for the middle portion of the trip. Just don’t know how many days to allot for Big Island vs Oahu.
Hawaii would be the easier trip, Thailand a bit further away and more exotic. If anyone has been to both or honeymooned in either place, let me know what you think!
