The Quagmire of Decisions Alps vs Dolomites

My wife and I are in the middle of analysis paralysis, which I'm sure as many of you know is such an exciting* place to be.

* it's not exciting

We have a rough budget of $15K for our honeymoon (includes flights) and are weighing our options between two weeks in the French Alps vs The Dolomites in late May/early June 2026. While geographically they may not be too far apart, we know they would be different experiences. We are open to going to other areas as well within the region e.g. going to switzerland if we are in the French Alps, or if we go to the Dolomites training up to Austria towards the tail end of it.

Our main goal is to 1) enjoy the outdoors, we love hiking and would arguably like to stay in a refuge 2) be slightly pampered for a few nights 3) good cheese, food, and wine/beer 4) leave some days open just to see what happens vs planning everything last detail out. I am currently waist deep in research but know that time is short, and that we need to make a decision fairly soon or be shit out of luck.

Would love to hear Pros/Cons from the larger community in either direction.
