8-day honeymoon to Montenegro

Greetings fellow travellers,

We're planning an 8-day honeymoon trip to Montenegro in Europe in May or June 2025 and would love your advice on our itinerary.

We will rent a car and aim for a mix of nature (our main goal), culture, and relaxation. We'll visit different places and regions each day but also leave enough time to unwind at our accommodation afterwards.

We're not really beach people and don't plan on extensive hiking in the mountains. Instead, we prefer short walks, road trips on beautiful roads and mountain passes, and enjoying the various views and experiences that Montenegro offers.

Itenirary

• Day 1: Flight and check-in around Bay of Kotor.
• Day 2: Explore Kotor Old Town and Perast.
• Day 3: Drive to Cetinje via Kotor Serpentine and Njeguši. Explore Lovćen National Park and the Mausoleum of Petar II.
• Day 4: Drive to Pavlova Strana Viewpoint and explore Lake Skadar via boat.
• Day 5: Drive to Žabljak via Plužine, Piva Canyon, and the Sedlo Pass (P14).
• Day 6: Explore Durmitor N.P. and Black Lake. Visit Tara Canyon and Đurđevića Bridge.
• Day 7: Drive to Podgorica via Biogradska Gora N.P. and Morača Canyon (instead of the new highway).
• Day 8: Check-out and flight home.

Accommodation

• 4 nights around Kotor
• 2 nights around Žabljak
• 1 night near Podgorica

The places listed seem like the absolute highlights to us. We couldn't really fit the following locations without making the days feel too full, rushed, and cramped:

• Bar and Stari Bar
• Ulcinj and Velika Plaza
