Beach Resort Recommendations – Mexico / Caribbean

My fiancé (29M) and I (24F) are planning our honeymoon for February 2025. We are planning for 5-7 nights, have a budget of 9K, and are flying out of Florida. There seems to be an overwhelming amount of great options, but we need help deciding on the best ones for us.

We like the idea of staying at an adults-only all-inclusive hotel located on the beach that has nice pools and good dining options (but are not dead-set on it being all-inclusive or adult-only). We are drawn to suites that have a plunge-pool or swim-up option.

We would rather not fly too far either, which is why we’ve been looking into the Caribbean islands, and areas in and around the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico (Cancun, Playa Del Carmen, Tulum).

Love:

  • White-sand beach
  • Big pools
  • Good food
  • Attentive service
  • Beautiful scenery
  • Well-kept environment
  • Tropical/jungle vibes
  • Nearby urban exploration (not a must).

Interested in:

  • Resort activities (could be simple as paddle boarding option).
  • Excursions (ex: we've loved the Damajagua Waterfall excursion in DR (despite it being touristy/crowded).
  • Entertainment (ex: shows, performances, live music).
  • Nightlife (we’re not partiers, but one night of bar/club/dancing vibes would be cool).

Don’t Love:

  • Super touristy or "americanized" (like Señor Frogs vibes)(this makes us wary of the Hotel Zone in Cancun).
  • Too secluded (have heard good things about Excellence Playa Mujeres, but is there anything to do nearby?).
  • Outdated
  • Overcrowded

For the most part, we want to relax on a beach or by a pool, but would love to sprinkle some activities, and at least one or two excursions.

Are there any specific islands in the Caribbean, or specific cities in Mexico that we should look into? Or are there any specific resorts that fit the bill?

Thank you for reading this far and for any tips you have!
