Caribbean Hurricane Season?

Sorry if this has been discussed before – my fiancé and I are planning our honeymoon for the last week in August. I’ve been drooling over the Sandals Resorts, but August is peak hurricane season for the entire Caribbean. Are we crazy to plan a trip there at that time of year? Or is it not really a big deal?

We were thinking about moving it to Hawaii to mitigate the threat of bad weather, but I haven’t been able to find “romantic, honeymoon” rooms at any of the resorts like the ones at Sandals. They all look like regular hotels rooms…. Suggestions on Hawaiian resorts is appreciated as well. Thank you!!
