charity work on honeymoon – anyone with experience?

hi all!

my fiancé and i have been talking about our honeymoon and have decided that we’d like to spend it doing something good, of course charity work sprang to mind.

i was wondering if anyone out there has got any experience with this? we’re based in the UK and are getting married in may next year, so would look to to fly out after that.

we’d like to help with something lasting, so ideally buildings that are needed, etc. as great as teaching kids would be, we just don’t think that a week or two would make all that much of a difference while a house/school/office/shop that’s being built probably would.

we’re currently thinking of the african states but have been pondering south america also.

any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! 🙂
