Cheaper booking through resort or more expensive booking through a travel agent?

Planning on booking our honeymoon for this December/January. We have gotten a few quotes from a travel agent for all-inclusives in Punta Cana, Jamaica, and Mexico. The few that I've looked over have been more expensive than when I've done mock bookings directly through the resort. Is it worth it to pay the extra fee for the guarantee and benefits that come from a travel agent, or should I end up booking on my own to save the money?

I'm also very much a people pleaser and would feel terrible not booking through the travel agent after she's done all the work in coming up with quotes for us.
