Countries to avoid? Hurricane season?

Hey all, were looking at all inclusive locations somewhere south of the border. Tentative range of dates are august or September. Whether it’s Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Mexico, or other Caribbean countries, all the resorts look the same. Not a bad thing, they all look fantastic. To help us narrow it down, we were wondering if there are countries we should be wary of. The reasons could be political conflict, dangers, weather risk, or notoriety. We will not leave the resort to explore the area. We like to stay put. I know certain resorts in the Dominican had that issue of the tainted alcohol. But I know that’s not every resort. We will get trip insurance, but we would prefer a lower chance of getting hit by a hurricane.
