Dominican Republic Alternatives

My wife and I were planning our honeymoon to the Dominican Republic September 1-9 but with the increasing number of tourist deaths there we are looking for alternatives. We wanted to go somewhere with a beach and an ocean since my wife has never been to one. We were hoping for an all inclusive place, but would be willing to go elsewhere for the right place
