Don’t know anything about honeymoons. Looking for advice on location?

So me and my wife have been married for a while now . But never had a real wedding (went to sign papers at the courthouse). So now we’re planning a wedding so we can actually celebrate being together with our families . And I am wanting to plan the honeymoon. But I’m having a tough time choosing a location. I’m looking to only spend maybe $2,000-$2,500 max.

Originally we always thought of beach locations or cheap tropical options (like a cruise) . But our wedding will be mid October. So we could do some cool cold weather locations maybe? Or maybe New Orleans? (My wife loves all the paranormal stuff) . Any advice/suggestions?
