Evaluating St. Lucia for honeymoon

My fiance and I are planning our honeymoon for July. Initially interested in St. Lucia for its views, beaches, and the mix of relaxation and adventure (like boating excursions, rum tastings) it offers. Quality of food and room is important. Flying from a major city in the Northeast U.S., so flights to St. Lucia are relatively easy/affordable. We're surprised by how expensive it is for a higher-end all-inclusive – even excluding Jade Mountain or Ladera.

For those that have been, is St. Lucia worth the cost? Did you love where you stayed, and why? Should we consider Barbados or Curacao? Thanks!
