Excellence resort Cancun

Hello! My fiancé and I have been recommended to honeymoon in Cancun with the excellence resort. My coworker highly recommended it and talks very highly of it, says he’s been 5 times and plans to continue to go. What are y’all’s advice for planning this? We would be flying out of Nashville, TN next November. Is there any tips as far as transportation once we get there, when to book room/ flights, excellence Playa Mujeres or excellence Riviera Cancun, any other tips? Do they require payment upfront, or can I book now with a deposit and pay closer to? I’ve heard a bit about where one resort is further out of the way if I’d want to do any exploration, since the taxi ride would be less. Thoughts?
