Hi everyone!
My fiancé and I are planning a two-week honeymoon to Greece in October and are considering whether to incorporate Italy into our itinerary. We’d love to hear your thoughts on whether this would be a good idea.
We're looking for a destination that’s relatively easy to reach from Greece and ideally offers direct flights back to New York. So far, we've considered:
- Lake Como (flying in and out of Milan)
- The Amalfi Coast (flying in and out of Naples)
- Sicily (but direct flights home from there don’t seem to be an option)
Since we’d only have three days in Italy, we’d prefer a location where we can stay mostly in one place or get around easily on foot. We’ve already been to Rome and Florence.
Here's what we're currently thinking, but we'd be okay with cutting a day from one of the islands:
Day 1: Arrive in Athens
Day 2: Athens
Day 3: Head to Santorini
Day 4: Santorini
Day 5: Santorini
Day 6: Head to Paros
Day 7: Paros
Day 8: Paros
Day 9: Paros
Days 10-13: ???
Day 14: Fly home
Would adding Italy feel too rushed, especially for a honeymoon? Or do you think it’s worth it? If we stick to Greece, how would you recommend we spend these extra three days and/or adjusting our itinerary? Open to any and all suggestions—including out-of-the-box ideas!
Thanks in advance!
