Honeymoon in Thailand and Maldives – Days needed at each location?

We are currently planning our honeymoon for March, which is a bit after our wedding and trying to put together a plan that is equal parts relaxing and adventurous. Right not we have up to 3 weeks set aside and trying to figure out how many days to stay in each place so it doesn't feel rushed. My current plan is right around 16 days (including flying time) so we do have a couple extra days to work with but a few recovery days back home would be much appreciated.

If anyone has thoughts on the Thailand itinerary, i think thats where we could use the most help. Our initial plan has us skipping all the beaches because we'll be going to the Maldives. The Maldives resort will be paid entirely on points so that isn't super flexible. Bangkok made the most sense as the second destination because they have direct 4 hour flights to Male.

Flight from NY – Chiang Mai (4 Nights) – Bangkok (3 Nights) – Male (overnight) – Early morning seaplane transfer to resort (5 Nights) – Seaplane back to Male/Return to NY.

We'd appreciate everyones opinions!
