Honeymoon Maldives Trip November 2024!

Hi Everyone, I recently just got 6 nights at the Hilton Conrad at Maldives using Hilton points in November 2024 with my fiancé and I where we will be going for our honeymoon. The only thing that is left for the honeymoon trip is to figure out the flight. My fiancé and I will be leaving from Los Angeles Airport to Male, Maldives as a round trip. But we are having trouble on which airline to go with and at a good value. The airline companies we have looked into are Emirates and Qatar. We would like to fly business class both ways. I really would appreciate it if anyone can give their own tips and tricks for a trip to the Maldives especially flights! Thank you all!

Below is a breakdown of the points that we have and the information so far I have been able to gather for Qatar and Emirates.

Points:

• Chase Ultimate Rewards: 100,000 points
• Capital One Venture: 160,000 points
• Total Points: 260,000

Qatar:

• Qsuite Business Class 1 way from LAX to MLE for 1 person Cost = $8,368
• I have been trying to figure calculate the point conversion to see how many points to fly Qsuites Business but every time when I go on to the Qatar Airways website -> Privilege Club -> Spend my Avios -> Award Flights. When I try to fill out the fields I am unable to choose and/or enter the information (From, To, Depart, Return, Passengers). I also tried the My Calculator – Privilege Club on Qatar Airways and when I click on the "Book an award flight" the only field that does not work is the "Depart." I am unable to select or enter a date. I am not sure if the Qatar Airways website is having issues or if it is buggy.
• From my research (reddit, articles, blog and YouTube) I have found that it is about ~85,000 points for Qatar Qsuite one way from US to Maldives. Based on the information that I found it will be about ~170,000 points round trip for Qatar Qsuite for one person. For the both of us it would be a total of ~340,000 points. We would be short of about ~80,000 points but the remaining I would want to pay in cash or buy more points to make up the remaining.

Emirates:

• Emirates Business Class 1 way from LAX to MLE for 1 person Cost = $4,940
• From the Emirates Miles Calculator to fly 1 way Business Class from LAX to MLE is about ~157,500 points. For a round trip is ~350,000. For the both of us it would be about ~700,000 points total.
• We would be short of about ~440,000 points.

Based on the numbers it might be better to go with Qatar Airways by transferring points both Chase Ultimate Rewards and Capital One Venture to Avios points and get the ticket with Qatar. Any better ideas out there, I am looking to learn and listen!
