Honeymoon report from secrets maroma beach riviera cancun in mexico!

So my husband and I just got back from 6 nights at Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun, and the whole experience was amazing. I searched here for advice on honeymoon resorts and never found anything super helpful, so I thought I'd post about ours! Including budget!

I have a few friends who love the Sandals chain resorts, but we wanted to go to the Riviera Maya area of Mexico, where there are no Sandals. We wanted a beach vacation to just relax and be with each other, as well as an adults only experience. We debated between Secrets Akumal and Secrets Maroma Beach and ended up going with Maroma Beach because the reviews mentioned that while Akumal was awesome for snorkeling and seeing sea turtles, Maroma's beach could absolutely not be beat.

Originally, we had booked all-inclusive "Unlimited Luxury" 6 nights for 2 adults in a "Junior Suite, Partial Ocean View, King" for $3,370. Once we got to the resort, we were given the option to upgrade to the honeymoon suite, and my husband having just signed a job contract with a huge sign-on bonus, went for it! It was an additional $1,800, but leveled us up to Preferred Club members, as well as including $200 in resort coupons, a romantic breakfast, and a free 50 minute couples massage (would've been $400!!!). We also got access to the spa's hydrotherapy services for the week, which was amazing! Sauna, steam room, and then an outdoor pool with bubble therapy to help massage everything you could want.

The honeymoon suite upgrade was AMAZING, we had ocean front views, a huge balcony with jacuzzi, and a huge huge bathroom with a jacuzzi as well. We rented cabanas 4/7 of the days we were there for $50 a day, which was clutch. The beach was gorgeous and the resort does a great job at keeping up with cleaning the seaweed.

My husband and I are huge foodies and were a little worried about the food options, but we were super impressed with every single meal at the resort. We didn't even have a chance to check out a couple of their restaurants!

The service here was also AMAZING. We had a personal concierge for our building (Marycruz!) who helped with scheduling and planning things to make our week perfect. The concierges at the beach cabanas were always super on top of our drinks, waters, towels, beach chairs, anything else we needed.

We didn't really do any of the entertainment, but they had movies and shows every night. We did catch the end of Bohemian Rhapsody playing! We only did one excursion to Chichen Itza, which I highly recommend. It was a SUPER long day, but we scheduled our romantic breakfast to wake us up at 6am and ate on the balcony watching the sunrise. Seeing one of the new world wonders could not be beat!

Before we left I always said my husband and I weren't really resort people, we like staying in AirBNBs and trying to do local things. But after this trip, maybe we just hadn't been to the right resorts!! We heard from multiple couples the key to a happy marriage was coming back every year, and I honestly couldn't agree more. I told my husband I already wanted to go back, even if just for a quick 3-4 day weekend!

One reason I like Secrets so much too is they have so many locations in Mexico, which is a close, quick, inexpensive flight for us, and we just love Mexico in general. We (ok mainly me) are already looking into going to one of the Secrets resorts in Jamaica next year!!
