Honeymoon Safari – Tanzania vs South Africa

Hi there – my fiancée and I are planning our honeymoon for December 2024. We have decided on a safari but are having a difficult time deciding on East Africa or South Africa. This will be our first time traveling to Africa and want to make the most of it. We plan to add on a few days at a beach to relax (Zanzibar or Mozambique), enjoy cultural and food experiences but are mainly chose safari to see some amazing sights, animals and learn about the country we are visiting.

We have done research comparing the two destinations but the guidance is split with some saying we must do Tanzania and others saying we must do South Africa.

Any recommendations from people that have been? Which is a better honeymoon destination? Which is a better safari experience in December?
