Looking for travel recommendations

Hi, r/honeymoonplanning!

My fiance and I received a 1200 dollar airfare credit from my aunt and uncle to travel for our honeymoon. Initially, we were thinking about flying to Hawaii (we love beaches, tropical areas) but it seems so expensive and touristy there..

Does anyone have recommendations for a less touristy, still beautiful place that we could fly to? Or even if it's not necessarily a tropical place, maybe a place that you really loved visiting?

I went to Costa Rica a few years back on the gulf of Mexico side and I really loved being there with the ticos and having to get by with my (bad) Spanish. We don't mind being somewhere that's a little gritty with less amenities if it means a more natural experience.
