Malaysia or Taiwan?

Hi guys! My fiance and I are planning our honeymoon (it’s reall just a big trip though), which we will do few months after the wedding (last week of December & first week of January).

We want to book the flights soon but we can’t decide which destination to choose. We are thinking either Malaysia or Taiwan. We like the idea of Malaysia because of the vibrant cultural and food scene and that it will be nice and warm but we are not big fans of taking planes during the trip and looks like in Malaysia to get to Penang & Langkawi we’d have to fly each time.

The other option is Taiwan, we love the idea of travelling by train around the country and the weather seems to be quite good there as well but we do worry that there might not be too much to do, as we can’t find much info about travelling around Taiwan and that it might be similar to Japan and Korea which we have visited in the previous years. We found that there is a tropical island LiuQiu but again, not much info about it either.
