My husband and I would like to do our honeymoon in the UK – originally, it started with just thinking of Ireland, but then we’re thinking we’d like to see parts of Scotland and England as well.
It seems that the most efficient way of doing it would be a cruise, but it makes me sad that we would only spend one day in each place. It would inarguably be the best way of seeing everything though. I think I would also feel stressed about making it back to the boat on time, especially since we may not want to do a lot of the prearranged excursions (we’re in our 30’s and don’t want to go at the pace of the most likely elderly crowd)
But, if we did a mix of driving and flying to hop around, we would have more autonomy and get to spend more time in each place. We would also get to stay in some adorable airbnbs (like a quintessential Irish cottage) instead of a cruise room. The downsides of this type of trip would be learning how to drive on the opposite side of the road, complications of flying, and it’s just overall kind of a hassle to coordinate the mix of travel modes to get everywhere.
Places we’d love to see are:
Dublin
Glasgow
Cliffs of Moher
Edinburgh
Loch Ness
Scottish Highlands
London
Any advice or thoughts?
