Need assistance to pick honeymoon destination

I have been to Thailand and enjoyed my stay over there and so seriously want to go again because I had missed places like koh samui and ko phi phi including chiang mai. On the other hand I think Bali would be a great honeymoon destination too. Both of these are cheaper options. But my partner wants to explore Nice ( France), Canne, Paris and marseille. I have estimated that the expense for a lavish Bali / Thailand honeymoon would be equivalent to that of mere 1/2 star hotel stays for Nice and Paris. My partner wants to explore a country which is new to both of us. Can anybody here who has been to the above places help me decide where to go? For me honeymoon should be lavish and leisure, I don’t want to adjust at a 2 star hotel when I can get a 5 star resort elsewhere for the same price.
