New Zealand or South Africa?

Hi all! My fiancé and I are getting married this December (2024) and we are really torn over where to honeymoon.

Right now, we are considering either New Zealand or South Africa, but admittedly need to do a lot more research on both countries. We would probably leave for the trip sometime in January, a few weeks after the wedding.

A little about us: we really love to travel and explore new places, and are interested in a honeymoon destination that is off the beaten path. We enjoy hiking, exploring museums/cultural sites, eating good food and drinking nice wine. We are also interested in doing some relaxing, and enjoy staying at nice hotels.

Would love to hear feedback from anyone who has honeymooned in these destinations or visited them before!
