Peru Honeymoon

Hello Reddit! We are getting married in mid-September and have to go on our honeymoon right after. Italy (our original idea) is out so we decided Peru. We want to hike Machu Picchu, and maybe spend a few days on the beach too. We would stay for 7-10 days depending on cost, which we would like to keep under 4-5k if possible.

We are thinking about flying into Cusco, hiking, then flying to a beach town (Mancora?).

I would like to know if any of you have any experience hiking Machu Picchu and how you went about it (how you got there from the airport, where you stayed) and anything else you have to offer. We're okay with AirBNBs or hotels in Cusco, but would probably enjoy a hotel on the beach.

My fiance speaks okay Spanish and I know basics, if that makes a difference at all.
