Getting married 9/26 so thinking early November honeymoon.
Aiming for 7-10 days, pretty hesitant to spend more than 2 days on flights.
Budget is $3-5k.
In SW CO so could fly out of Durango, Albuquerque or Denver. Usually fly midweek to save a few bucks.
Big nature fans, like a nice hike. Don't love huge crowds but can deal with them. Enjoy historic places. No accessibility issues.
Would love to be on the water somewhere, definitely want to do a guided fishing tour and potentially snorkeling, kayaking, etc
Pretty comfortable traveling in Mexico, we did a big roadtrip from CO through Topolobampo/Mazatlan/Durango/Chihuhua last spring and had a blast, also have done PV/Sayulita/Guadalajara and are going back next year for some friends wedding.
Not totally against going AI or a cruise but is out of our wheelhouse. We generally get little vacation rentals, eat local food, book our own excursions etc. Could be fun to not have to think about anything but kinda worried we would feel stifled/crowded?
Thoughts so far are:
Fly in New Orleans (I could get a free room there for 3 nights if we sit through a 90min timeshare pitch which doesn't sound terrible) then do a 4-5day cruise and fly back home.
Fly into FL., get a room for the night, do a 7 day cruise/home.
(Again have zero experience with cruises, we do enjoy a drink on vacation so assume we would want some kind of package?)
Fly into Cancun or Tulum, go somewhere a bit out of the city like Isla Holbox/Cozumel/Akumal, rent a place for the week and hang out. (Seems like the cheapest but potentially a bit more leg work)
Fly somewhere in the Caribbean/Mexico/Central America and either rent a place or stay at a AI.
Very open to suggestions and exploring new places, TIA!
