Second stop after Maldives?

I’m in the process of planning my honeymoon for May 2023. Our first stop will be about a week in the Maldives to do the overwater villa experience. I would like to find a second country/city(ies) to visit for another week or so as we make our way back to NYC.

With the Maldives we’ll have covered the tropical aspect of the trip so we’re thinking something more activity/sightseeing oriented but beyond that we don’t have our hearts set on anything specific. What I am hoping is that destination 2 brings us closer to NYC so our final flight home isn’t a monster. That may mean somewhere in Europe?
