Uber/Lyft or Public Transportation (bus) in Oahu, Hawaii: What is the best way to get around the island?

My wife and I got married in August. We are currently planning our honeymoon trip to Oahu, Hawaii for a week. We've picked Oahu because neither of us have not been to the island. We want to do some exploring while we're there, so we're going to rent a car for a few days. The rest of the time we are going to use public transportation or an Uber/Lyft to do some of the activities the rest of the time we're there. I'm wondering if it's worth paying for an Uber/Lyft or Public transit to get around.

Edit: Im aware that things in Hawaii are expensive. Just looking and open to any suggestions on how to a navigate around the island without spending an unnecessary amount of money. READY AND GO…..
