Where to go driving distance from Southern Ontario/Western NY

Getting married in two weeks and looking at doing a ‘mini-moon’ right after the wedding. We were thinking a cottage vibe for a few days in early September that is driving distance from Buffalo area so we can bring our dog.

Open to any and all suggestions. Think a small cute town vibe would be lovely. Something like Niagara-on-the-Lake but elsewhere as we have been there a lot.
